Gerry Turner is ready to handout some roses.
As the 71-year-old embarks on his journey of love in the inaugural season of the Golden Bachelor, he can't help but note how far out of his comfort zone he's headed in the ABC dating show's new teaser.
"I don't always date 20 women at once," Gerry says in the July 26 clip. "But I'm about to."
While the clip doesn't give too much away from the upcoming season—those vying for the retired restaurateur's heart have yet to be revealed—the series has proven its leaning into its "golden" theme. After all, the clip features shots of a luxurious cheese board can be seen along with fine wine and a vintage car—all of which are known for being enhanced with time.
"It's been said that some things get better with age—experience that is valued; a taste that only gets more refined," the video's narrator is heard saying as Gerry dusts off a bottle of wine. "In life, good things take time and this love story is worth the wait."
And in addition to trading in young love for a second shot, the clip also shows the iconic red Bachelor rose transformed into a golden rose.
The teaser comes just weeks after it was announced that Gerry would be the leading man in the latest spinoff in the franchise. As for why the Indiana native—who was married to his high school sweetheart Toni for 43 years, until her death in 2017—is ready for his journey?
As he told Good Morning America July 17, it's "because it's never too late to fall in love again."
"I think my thoughts always go to the way I've done things," he continued. "Don't give up. There's always possibilities."
Gerry also took a moment to reflect on what his late wife would think of his search for love.
"I have her picture on a dresser in my closet," he shared. "And every morning I give her the nod, 'So what do you think about this?' For a while I was having a hard time figuring out if she would be okay."
The Golden Bachelor is set to hit ABC this fall. In the meantime, click here to learn everything there is to know about Gerry.
